 "Excellant Idea" 2010-02-04
By Tony (USA)
You really can't ask for anything more, just about everything you need is packed into this setup, except for the stove, food and a cook.

I had to make my own strap out of 2" velcro to keep the top on.A cheap belt would work, but the buckle might scratch it.One thing that I would suggest is,once you take it apart to see everything inside, its packed with a thin foam, leave the handle for the coffee pot unfolded,if you fold it back up and try to stuff it back into its nesting pot without the foam like I did,you will scratch the teflon in the pot. That upset me a little. With the handle unfolded,it all went back together just fine.I love it.

"Replaced the exact same cookset purchased 35+ years earlier" 2009-08-22
By C. Bovee (Colorado)
I inherited an identical set from my parents (exception: the original had all aluminum insides/outsides, and an early form of Teflon coating on the fry pans' cooking surface). I am not sure if it was made by the same company, however, as my original set has no markings. We used it every summer our family camped when I was growing up, which was A LOT. They were workhorses! My mother would even pull out the large pot to use at home when she had a crowd to feed. Now that I have my own family, we've continued to use it regularly while camping. It was showing signs of wear (cups finally cracking, rust around the pot handles, bent frying pan, flaking Teflon, etc.) and I set out to look for something to replace it.

I was delighted to find this set and ordered it immediately. It is lighter weight than the original (which for our purposes is actually great...we love walk-in tent sites while car camping, and hauling our gear can be a pain). The set is sturdy and obviously still well made. We used it on our camp stove. Really like the non-stick coating on all sides of the pots and pans. The percolator pot does leak a bit when poured, but that is probably because we fill it too full of water (we use a French Press for coffee), above the fill line for making coffee. The percolator top is plastic, my original set had a glass top. The plates ARE a full inch smaller, but frankly, we don't mind that. When we are out washing dishes at our campsite, they fit more easily into the dish tub OR we simply use paper plates for less clean up. There is a schematic drawing on how to stack it all together (I didn't have this with my inherited original set and had to guess every time), and while the lid does not fit snugly on top, we simply hooked on a tiny bungee cord to the holes for the handle on each side. It keeps it all together. If you pack this set inside another plastic bin with other camping items, like we do, carrying it on its own is really not an issue.

I like that the lids are flat...that is another difference in my original set. They were slightly domed lids before. The flat lid does afford you the opportunity to set something on it to keep warm while you are cooking something else. It was easy to clean at camp...much easier than my old set since the pots have the non-stick coating inside and out. When we came home, I stuck every piece into the dishwasher (keeping the plates and cups on the top rack)and it cleaned up beautifully.

I look forward to getting another 30 years of use out of this set and then passing it on to MY kids!

"Tried and True Cook Set" 2009-06-24

This set works great for a big group. Each piece has a purpose. We gather water from the lake to be purified with the big pot down to the little coffee pot for warming up water for hot chocolate. It's too big for backpacking, but great for camping.

 "Nice set" 2008-03-31
By SkyeNoir (Bay Area, CA)
We just took this set camping for the first time last weekend. It definitely served it's purpose. My husband had the kettle on the campfire almost the entire trip, and it help up well, even though it is discolored now, of course. I assume we will have to buy a sturdier kettle at some point, but it did well and it made decent coffee with the percolator. The handle is a little difficult to put on the frying pan. It would be nice if there were actual bowls with this set, but then it wouldn't all fit together. The cups are pretty small, so if you want a good amount of coffee, or a drink with ice, you will need to bring extra cups along. And, although everything nests together, it doesn't clamp down in any way, so the top (which is one of the pans) will fall right off if you try to carry the stack. There is probably a way to use a flat bungee cord to keep it secure. But, all in all, the set is nice, we made mac and cheese, fried eggs, made oatmeal and boiled eggs, etc, and things cooked quickly and they set washed well. And the cups did hold up to very hot coffee, even if they didn't hold much.

 "Great for large families" 2007-04-11
By Tiaunee M. Broadway (Miami, Fl)
I bought this cookware set about a year ago for family camping trips. We are a family of 5 who don't like to skimp on meals when camping. This set has more than met our expectations. There is nothing that we want to cook that we can't with these pots. I also use the largest pot to boil water for washing the dishes. I haven't had a problem with sticking although I do use spray or olive oil when I have to brown anything. I would not recommend using metal utensils as the non-stick coating is thin. I have used this set at least 10 times and it has held up well. They clean up very easily. The cups are small but double as measuring cups which always come in handy, one less item we have to carry. The plates are small but definately functional. The flat lids for the tops can also double as a warming area for breads, butter, etc. I can't tell how many years of wear I will get out of these, but I would buy again, especially for the price. And everything really does fit together in one pot.
