I got this set as a gift three or four years ago. It still works fine, and I haven't had issues with the non-stick coating flaking off, but the red coating has gotten really discolored from normal use -- black in some places, faded in others. Also, I think the pots have warped a bit. The strainer inserts I have for the pots don't really sit flush in the pot anymore. It's disappointing, because I love my Kitchenaide stand mixer, and I really really loved this set's color. My boyfriend has been trying to convince me for a while now that these are "garbage." I suppose it's time to cave in and replace them with a set that won't look so ugly after a year.

I recieved these as a Christmas gift 3 years ago. My husband knew how much I liked KitchenAid and especially the red line of products. The exterior of all my pots have turned pink. Since a lot of my appeal to this product was the red exterior I am extremely dissappointed. I've not experienced the flaking of the non-stick surface, but I am very strict with utensil usage and everyone knows not to use metal with them... They still cook decent, but next time I will probably go with a different brand.

We spent a lot of money ($150) on the 12-inch sautee pan which is advertised as "virtally indestructable". We have been very careful with the pan. We don't use metal utensils, put it in the dishwasher, or use abrasive cleaners or scrubbers. The non-stick coating is pitting, flaking and coming off after only eight months.

The company told me that we could send it back (at our expense) and someone at the company would examine the pan and decide if they would repair the pan, give us a replacement or return the pan as is.

We are planning to return the pan, but we aren't too hopeful.

Having recently read quite a few reviews of other companies' non-stick cookware, it seems that this is a common problem. Caveat emptor!

I purchased this set of cookware after a lot of research and review checking. It's heavy, extremely easy to clean, and I like the stay cool handles. The large fry pan is huge, and the stockpot is larger than our previous one as well. It's hard getting used to the recommendations to not use high heat and not to pre-spray the pans when cooking. While we've only had them for a little over a month, no regrets at this time.

Pros:

* The non-stick surface is fantastic, and the other surfaces (outsides of the pots, lids) are easy to clean. Cleaning by hand is easy enough that I have not put the cookware in the dishwasher.

* The stock pot cover fits on the 10" skillet

* Even heating

* The shape of the skillets is great for flipping things

Cons:

* The handles do get hot after a while, particularly if you grab them close to the pot, and they stay hot after the pot itself has cooled (they heat up slowly and cool down slowly)

Other notes:

* The price seemed to vary a lot week-to-week; I would not have paid the higher prices I've seen.

I bought this set in 2006. I regularly use the 10" skillet, with only wood / relatively soft plastic utensils and it is really a terrible pan now. I do usually put it in the dishwasher (as they are supposedly dw safe). _Everything_ sticks to it now. Scrambled eggs leave a huge mess on the bottom, even when using a spatula with a properly hot pan and a decent amount of oil.

I had my doubts about nonstick pans, especially dw safe, and 3 years later I'm certainly regretting it. I wish I'd have shelled out for a nice 3/5 ply stainless set.

The rest of the set is in decent shape, as they're used much less frequently. I rated it 3 stars because otherwise it's a really well-made set, I frankly just don't believe _any_ nonstick can stand the test of time, without excruciating care taken to gently hand-wash etc. It's a bummer because I really like every other aspect of this set - they are clearly quality.

I'm just going to get a decent stainless 10" replacement since I use that size all the time.

I've not looked into the warranty, it seems like a waste of time as I'd have to go through that again in several years. By then, I'll doubtless be ready to replace the entire set.

I bought these to replace a very old set of T-Fal cookware. I originally wanted Stainless, because of the dishwasher factor, but started reading how foods sticks to stainless quite easily & is hard to get off at times. So I decided to order these & hope for the best. These are heavy-duty, restaurant-quality pans that are easy to care for & I'm so glad I chose these. But one thing I would like to point out is, they are not light weight. But overall, I highly recommend this cookware set- excellent!

"great OXO deal" 2010-02-18

i was looking for kitchen tongs and a spatula separately and ordered the Oxo 9-Inch Locking Tongs with Nylon Heads for around 12 dollars along with other items for a basic kitchen tool upgrade.

when adding the tongs to my cart i noticed within Amazon Recommendations the same set of OXO tongs alongside an OXO spatula yet clicked through to complete my already existing order.

it was only after ordering that i remembered to look into that OXO set, whereupon it was discovered it not only included the same 9" tongs, it also included the needed silicone spatula as well as a nylon turner. all for about 15 dollars.

that is, for three dollars more than the 9" tongs cost alone, you also get an Oxo Silicone Spatula which is sold individually for around 8 dollars and an Oxo Nylon Flexible Turner for around 7 dollars.

what this means is that for about 3 dollars more you can get a silicone spatula and a nylon turner, and individually these add up to 27 dollars, so that is a 12 dollar savings by purchasing them as a set. so too, they are a 4-for-3 offer, so optimally you can save up to 25% more on an order of similarly priced items.

i was worried that the tongs had nylon tips though they have been very useful thus far, grabbing things out of the oven and picking up and moving things on the stove. ideally they would be made of silicone, or at least it is my fear they will begin to melt when meeting a hot cast iron skillet.

the silicone spatula is very nice. it has a detachable head for cleaning and is well-made. it is a little more stiff than i would prefer yet it will do fine.

the flexible nylon turner has several reviews about its melting plastic and this almost caused me not to change my order, from the tongs to the above set. i figure i will relegate it to my non-stick cookware for the time being and search out a durable silicone turner to use with cast iron.

the main suggestion about this product would be that if nylon is used that it should be of a type which can withstand the highest heat. apparently some can withstand 500 degrees fahrenheit. and so i would expect that of these tools yet they are rated only for 400F degrees which imbues hesitation in their regular use, for fear of potentially damaging them which then requires their subsequent replacement.

i will be optimistic and give 4 stars for the good value involved, though if the two nylon tools disintegrate quickly due to heat deterioration i would lower it to 3 stars later on. my main concern at this point is the flexible nylon turner, because someday i will unwittingly use it in my cast iron and worry not only that i may potentially ruin it though also whatever food i happen to be cooking.

the tongs get rave reviews and i can see why. i thought the initial size i ordered (9") would be too small yet they are just right for handling things on the stovetop and close to the door inside the oven. really nice and have been using them alot. if they had silicone tips i would be able to securely pull ramekins out of the oven, so instead hope to locate these Kuhn Rikon Silicone Tongs in a discount store someday for use as a second set.

as well, the spatula is nice though its rubber handle is a bit hard to extract from within the mixture of other utensils in the bin, due to its grippy handle. it remains to be seen the utility of the turner as a turner in use. though either way it was the better choice and at least an intermediate step towards better utensils.

note: in regard to the flexible nylon turner, in terms of its heat deterioration issues, as well as the OXO silicone turner, in terms of its construction, it would appear that both share the same very thin surfaces. to me this extreme thinness is not necessary compared to the durability needed to withstand heat effectively. so i would rather see these tools slightly thicker if it would improve their durability.

note2: this product is titled the 'safe for non-stick cookware' set. similarly, it would be nice if OXO sold a 'safe for cast iron & non-stick cookware' set (albeit not this literal wording), which i assume would be all silicone. these are ultimately the tools i need most, because then non-stick and cast iron utensils could be one and the same, versus dealing with multiple utensils for the same task, which becomes dysfunctional.

First off, the price of this set was very good when I purchased it. It was only about 20% higher than buying any single one of these pieces indivudually.

Second, I have not had any problems with the quality of my tongs or spatula. They hold up very well to everything I've put them through, even frying in hot grease on the stove. The only damage that my tongs have taken were when they were directly exposed to the fire of my gas stove after I had sat them down in an inappropriate place. This was my own fault, and they still only had minimal damage.

The spatula, while I greatly enjoy using it and find it easy to clean, seems like it could be better. I usually just clean it by hand, but sometimes I do toss it in the dishwasher, especially if I have finished cooking for the day and know I won't need it for a while. The rubber along the edges of the blade is shorn a bit. I'm not sure if these fragments have come off in the washing machine or other times, but I have noticed it when inspecting the blade. Additionally, the blade does not connect very well with the handle. They are easily separable. This hasn't been a problem with most things but stirring thicker batters has caused me to lose the head in the mix. Still, it is my favorite mixing and stirring spatula at the moment, and I would recommend this set, especially over purchasing the items individually.

Circulon 2 Cookware is still the best of the Circulon series, especially for men. The thicker grips are easier to handle. The lids are solid steel so there is no shatter concern if one is dropped. I first stumbled on Circulon in a close out set of three baking sheets. We gave one to our daughter and one to our daughter-in-law. Everyone raved about them. I suggested to our son that he could get a set for daughter-in-law. Ended up buying three of the 12 pc sets. We absolutely love it all. We had very good quality stainless and some other non-stick items. They are now in storage.

The 12" pan in this set is huge but works well on a decent size burner (we have glass top stove). I will probably buy the three skillet pack to get the 12" skillet as the 10" is a bit small for some dishes.

While it should not go in dishwasher it is so easy to clean in the sink I mentioned to wife the other day that it is almost a pleasure to hand wash it. Life is too short to use poor cookware to paraphrase an old line.

Wonderful! I just got this set for Christmas and started using it early. Even heating - CHECK! Good sizes for pans and lids - CHECK! Easy to clean - CHECK! Non-stick - CHECK! I love it. Heats very evenly, even the big pans that are bigger than the burner they are on (the one fryer pan is HUGE, but wonderful!). As for those that complain about having to hand wash them......I just soak them for 5 minutes in warm, soapy water while I load the rest of the dishes in the dishwasher, and then clean with a dishrag. The rivits for the handles are NOT flat and they can gather food debris, but one extra pass with the dishrag takes care of it....I have not even had to break out a scrub brush of any kind. These are well-made, heavy and the non-stick is the best I have used. Someone (not sure if it was on here or another site with reviews) wished the lids were glass and therefor see-through, but I have had sets with glass lids and condensation accumulates on them and you really can't see the contents of the pan anyway. This set is worth the money. I can't speak to how long it lasts because I have only had them for 2 weeks, but they still don't even look like I've even used them. I can just tell the quality of this set, and predict they will last for a long time.

I'm Mr.B., I've been an adventurous cook for more than fifty years. I've cooked on cast iron and all the other coated cookware, on gas, electric and campfires. Circulon 2 is easily the best cookware I've used. I shopped and compared sets for about a month before buying these. It is a much better value (from Amazon) than all the bigger brands I looked at. Mrs. B and I have been cooking with it for about four months. We have also used it in the oven up to 375 F. per the mfg info, and it was great. It does all the good stuff the other reviewers have said. I clean mine easily with a soft dish brush after a little soak in warm water. The only minor complaint is the rivets arent flush with inside of pan, so I find after cooking, food may gather around edge of rivets sometimes.

Purchased 4 items of Calphalon Unison cookware, Used them just a few times and now I'm addicted. I now own the complete offering of Calphalon Unison cookware, including Utensils, Towels and Pot Holders. What a difference good cookware can do for your cooking. Also save on the amount of cookware you use. I seared a small roast on the stove top, than put it in the oven in the same pot. Also made homemade gravy (sauce) in the 8 quart stock pot, had it simmering for over 6 hours and there was no burnt sauce on the bottom of the pot. Clean up is a breeze, alittle Dawn dish detergent and a Dobie pad a couple a swirls around the inside and the outside of the Pan/Pot/Lid, rince it off, towel dry and back into the cabinet.
